In most cases over 60% could be wrong things

Or they don’t matter and you needed worry not about them.

That’s the most dangerous thing for business founder and operator

We are often made to feel we must strive to be productive machines grinding through tasks and optimizing every second

Just to pull through, you feel you are indebted to prove that – atleast for social media clout.

Where’s the productivity from that ?

Again,  what’s one thing that keeps business person awake ?

Just 2 weeks ago, on a Thursday, week day for that matter,  my friend carried me to a courtesy visit by Kenya Forest Service rep . We delved on nature and business sustainability.

It din’t look like it, witnessing the true refreshing power of silent forest shades, on a week day.

All about power of aligned mind to get clarity needed.

But here is the question – are you in an environment enhancing that for you ?

Combination of activities and productivity can be a big trap

When I joined my first start up immediately after resigning from corporate, I witnessed this first hand. My blood almost became ‘’thinner’’ for overly busyness.

Was I productive – no to a larger extent.

Led to lots of burn out, reducing creativity that really matters in a business, loss of what truly mattered later – relationships, your own spirit.

For instance, power of creativity is very critical – I met a re-known CEO of a production company. She is the founder who started her operations as a small venture some 20 years ago. The industry had other huge corporates that gave lots of competition. She confessed the only think kept her flowing is creativity in serving the few customers she had. And one customer attracted another one.

Now her company is top Five in market share.

When balance of activities and productivity is not there – that can’t be price of success.

There must be a different path – creating optimality. Driven by more human life and work balance

Which Pillars ?

You may ask

Yes, the most lucrative job you have for your business is creativity

It evolves one level after the other

But environment you are in will matter a lot.

To create an environment that influences, you need have pillars to direct you into that.

Faster decision turn around, faster learning, faster results.

Don’t admire other business, admire your small business that you can keep experimenting

Micro business treats business information like any other grape vine.

It isn’t !

Understand sources of your business information that set your foundation for any decision

Information is free business capital when harvested through right channels

3.       Business Networks

Micro business, more often than not, get tied to self-sabotaging relationship

Networks is the first source of trust. Trust yield real customers

Purpose to seek networks that evolves and relevant to business

List them and start pursuing them

4.       Continuous learning

Unfortunately, we pursued Degrees in universities to enable us get employed and promoted at employment

This time round, you are the employer and in very competitive world

You meet global brand has opened branch at your village.

You cannot remain the same person who started business. You need seek knowledge

Knowledge for business not for classroom. Take advantage of free chances flowing around

Workshops, closed business community, paid up short courses by an authority subject matter

5.       Art of Sales and Marketing

Marketing is nothing more from creating demand

Sales is converting prospective to buy

Those two requires great passion and commitment to create sales as a daily role.

Small business remain committed only in opening doors and don’t follow customers

When they follow customer, it’s random flow instead of creating engine of sales.

6.       Business money operations

When your business start making money, again, you are lost competing for same business money with your private funnels.

When you create flow of business money- from entry to exit- you start witnessing sabotage you have been creating

Roll out small process of recording money. Create right touch point of accountability. Avoid costly money. Avoid unwanted loans.

Results will be best gift to your business.

7.       Staff management

Simple, business pay salary in return for staff effort

Are you able to measure return into business from staff

Learn how to create and conduct structured performance management. It’s based on real deliverables.

8.       Customer journey

This is simply designed elements of how you serve customer ensuring they are happy with or without you.

It’s how you deliver the promise to customer.

That journey more often than not is full of wastage, low productivity below capacity and unhappy customer. It sends your hard-acquired customers away

Keep understanding and refining why you started the business

Which problem had you seen. Which solution have you brought with your business.

Business MOAT is how your business is protected from competition. For a small business it’s about refining customer value better and better.

You cannot improve anything you are not measuring

Our small business operates every day on a blanket script. Closed your eyes never to see anything

Operating without any metrics – sales, customer ratio, financial numbers and so on and forth

You have no accountability to improve

Start understanding metrics that support your business. Start measuring them

11.   Personal Health and Stress Management

You are the biggest capital of your business

You cannot live without knowing how to take care of your health. Simple practice of work out, following pre planned routines, relationships are never for business

They are meant to keep you focused and refreshed.

I believe we can and we should

Culture of non stop and assuming everything is for you is harmful

Reject the idea that it’s just a hustle. It’s not

Productivity planning leads to growth. Every business is scalable.

Become the person who is able to grow your business.
