Key Takeaways
· Working on emergencies and seemingly feeling you are in control is never the right strategy. Inability to block your time for deep work erode your power slowly and cant reach potential
· This becomes one of best strategy – identifying people to delegate, identifying high priority tasks, delegation , blocking time to work on and achieve your priorities
· Environment keeps challenging you to switch activities after activities. Redirecting energy to few key activities gives you more energy
· The joy of multitasking is short lived. It will not give you benefit of your full energy. Overscheduling many activities is also not measure of your ability. These are just trapping of holding back growth.
When I met Jenifer, one evening, she told me that they seem to have just started job. It was actually around 5pm. One of the main reason she gave was that they have not sold anything during the day and now she needs to net possible customers of late evening.
For Jenifer, the argument was very convincing. She said that is one of strategies that have sustained her. During my short interaction with her she received two more calls from her fellow business people and were telling her that she may try shifting the location because where they were positioned, seemed very productive for that day.
The whole stay with her was disrupted by varied talks from her neighbor regarding different painful issues they have been going through.
It was very clear that focus and concentration for Jenifer was almost zero.
To her business only means making a sale from passerby.
Some unpleasant truths:
Running business for many years is never a script that you will succeed
Currently AI is coming to do jobs that don’t have foundation
Global corporations have already set up to compete with your small business
What will remain to succeed is ability to create and organize
In my past letter I wrote about becoming productive for your micro business growth. It starts with you and your set up.
Business making is an art. Like any song writer who works every day ensuring we get harmony of the rhythm, you need master your harmony cord.
This means it starts with your mental organization and flow.
Are you able to connect dots for the bigger picture?
This is to say the business maker is the most successful niche. Before you even think of the business you are doing it all start with you and your personal rhythm.
Evaluate yourself and see if you are boxed in a routine that scale you down every day.
This letter is trying to give that clarity about unboxing yourself for a better business making journey.
Before you start technical parts in growing a business like we are offering inside here, your frame of mind carries all the weight.
The world is equally very distractive, however the world is becoming very proactive in helping those who knows what they want to achieve. Great load of supportive pillars
There is no shortage of desires and wishes but there is shortage of quality time
This is to show you why productivity is not better in loads of activities lists, but learning how to work on what really matters
Become intentional in blocking your time
You wake up, find a message sent to you, start responding then conversations you had not planned starts flowing.
Next something you had left hanging and forgotten becomes over due, you start running to calm the situation
Next you rush to ask orders for next day
Then, the day is over. You feel like you are a hero because all these were managed which ever way. However where is the value add on all that regardless of lots of energy in there.
#1 Shift your mind on value of time
Block your time for deep concentration on few well thought activities
Ensure you target this on your high energy hours
Group similar tasks to ensure you have synergy
#2 Prioritize
Not everything calls your attention is valuable and is a priority.
The feeling to answer all calls from all your village mates seems convenient but is not a priority
For every well thought activity, well-coordinated in execution, it drives results of many other areas without additional energy. Sounds simple, but displine around it is critical
This is time to create a weekly planner. Ask yourself before the week start, what are most important activities for you.
Start to train your system to respect priority tasks – it is just a matter of time
#3 Learn delegation
Are you still doing everything in your business
Buy your time back, get more relaxing time for thinking well by delegating your tasks
When you do every tasks on your way most probably you are creating a bottle neck to even better achievement
Delegating frees your time for most meaningful and productive aspect of activities.
This is how to become good delegator;
Make the outcomes clear to the person taking up
Make the timelines clear
Don’t be stuck in perfectionism – achieving 70% with delegation is far good enough. It becomes better
When you delegate, you empower. This can relay your energy to onother level
What we are saying is that some key pitfalls that will leave you stagnating include; Multi-tasking, Overscheduling, Taking up everything for you to do, delegating without clarity.
I’ll leave it there for now
It is my deep hope it has helped.
